When the Normans compiled the Domesday Book in 1086, Croydon had a Church, a Mill and over 350 inhabitants. And now? Although officially forming part of Greater London, being just 14km from the centre of London, it is the tenth largest town in the U.K. and it boasts the sixth largest business centre in England with around 9,500 national and international companies.
The London to Brighton Railway opened in 1841. Now you can get from Croydon to the heart of London (the City and the West End) and to London (Gatwick Airport) in just 15 minutes and to Brighton in around 45 minutes.
